By providing access to flexible loan finance combined with free support, UCIT can help community enterprises move from grant dependency towards commercial sustainability.
Since becoming operational in January 2001, UCIT has attained a client base of over 80 community enterprises throughout Northern Ireland in both rural and urban settings. UCIT has supported a wide range of projects including locally owned playgroups through to large regeneration projects involving significant capital investment.
As a registered charity, all profits generated by UCIT are recycled for reinvestment into the community enterprise sector.

Set up in 2002, Tuath is based in Letterkenny Institute of Technology and is a partnership between the Institute, the Donegal County Development Board and a number of other key stakeholders in the county.
The core activities of Tuath are:
To initiate animation and capacity building within communities through non-accredited and accredited training (certificate, diploma & degree courses) throughout Co. Donegal; e.g. National Certificate in Community Studies, BA in Community Development, etc.
To carry out research with a community and/or local development focus and where appropriate, and where appropriate make it available to community and other groups and individuals. Tuath can also provide consultancy and mentoring assistance;
To extend the skills and capacity within communities in the county by delivering tailor made courses at an appropriate time and place suitable to groups and individuals.
